CARBON-14 DATES

A total of 15 C-14 dates have been obtained from charcoal recovered in various archaeological excavations at the America’s Stonehenge site. These dates are given as B.P. dates known as “years before present” which is currently defined as the year 1950. These dates are consider “radio carbon years” which is different calendar years. A few of the tests have “corrected dates.” These are indicated by (date)*.

Flecks of charcoal found lodged between the exterior stones of the north wall of the Collapse Chamber 2 to 4 inches above bedrock. It has been subsequently determined that charcoal was in backfill soil and does not date the chamber.
